Water Wonders of the world

We have the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the Man-made Wonders of the World (classic and modern-day)… And now we say “hello” the Water Wonders of the World! What makes a Water Wonder? A destination that revolves around the beauty or excitement of the water which surrounds or runs through it. We’ve traveled from paradise beaches, to canals and bridges and even to desert heat!

We start with the most obvious…

Water Wonders of paradise: Greece, Croatia and The Maldives

Our paradise Water Wonders are all considered to be water sports’ heavens! You can jump in a kayak or on a paddle board, and explore around the islands. Or if speed is more your style, take a tour on a speedboat and find those hidden caves… If it involves water and paradise, these three have it!

Whether you want to enjoy water-sports or relax on a beach (you can even choose between pebble or sandy), Greece has it all… There are 6,000  Greek islands scattered between the Ionian and Aegean Seas (that’s a lot of possibilities for paradise). Imagine yourself walking to the beach along a cobbled alleyway with white walls and blue roofs all-around you. Greece is the ideal destination for beach and sailing holidays!

The Maldives are known for the idyllic beaches, sailing yachts and relaxing in a heavenly atmosphere. What is The Maldives? The Maldives is an island country, which consists of 1,190 tiny islands – each as beautiful as the next.

Croatia is our final blue magic paradise. With its long coastline and 1,000 islands spread through the Adriatic Sea, Croatia’s blue magic joins Greece and The Maldives as one of the Water Wonders! Croatia is famous for its sailing holidays and we can see why! Crystal-clear water, perfect summer climate and beauty everywhere you look.

Not only will your Summer holiday look the part, but you will feel as if you’ve found paradise with these wonders!

Water Wonders through the city: Amsterdam and Venice

A city known for its canals and bridges, it’s no surprise that Amsterdam is on our list of Water Wonder countries! A cruise down the canal is the best way to experience the beauty of Amsterdam. The Netherlands’ capital has more than 100km of canals and 1,500 bridges!

Of course one will never forget the Wonder that is Venice! No trip to Italy is complete without visiting the city of gondolas and romance. Just like Amsterdam, Venice is also famous for its bridges.  As one passes under the Rialto Bridge or the famous “Bridge of Sighs”, you can’t help but be captivated by the pleasure of exploring a city on a gondola. Fun fact! There are more than 400 bridges in Venice but only 4 cross over the Grand Canal!

Water Wonders of the desert: Egypt, Israel and Jordan

We move away from Europe, towards the hotter climates of the deserts… our next two Water Wonders can be found in Egypt, Israel and Jordan!

Our first desert Water Wonder is the Nile River. Who wouldn’t want to cruise down the Nile River, with sand dunes in the back (maybe a pyramid or two)? It’s no wonder that this Wonder is considered to be the longest river in the world – it is 6,853 km in length! Just as the Pyramids of Giza are synonymous with Egypt, this country wouldn’t be the same without its Water Wonder.

Our next desert Water Wonder is a two-in-one, the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. While these two are not the same place they are connected by a canal and share a home in Jordan. A ‘landlocked sea’ between Israel and Jordan – who wouldn’t want to take a tour to see that? Fun Fact! The Dead Sea is one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world, that’s why you can float so easily!

Our last Water Wonder is the Red Sea. Firstly, why is it called the Red Sea? There is a rare type of algae which is found in the Red Sea and when they die off they turn the blue-green color of the ocean to a reddish-brown! Here, you can grab your fins and goggles and explore the beauty below…

As you can see, we have searched all across the world to find these Water Wonders and they have not disappointed! Whether you are looking for water sports heaven or the ideal place for a relaxing summer holiday… if you want to plan your trip around water your options range from desert to island!
