While the winter weather may still be crisp and chilly, there are a number of unmissable events and festivals taking place in incredible destinations that are sure to warm you up! From the celebrations of carnival season to the romance of Valentine’s Day, travelling Europe in February is an absolute must. The holiday season has finally wrapped up by the beginning of February and it is low season across most of Europe. This means fewer crowds at popular attractions and cheaper flights and accommodation options; making it a budget-friendly time to travel too!

1. Venice, Italy

While February may be quieter in general across Europe, this is not the case in Venice! During February, the Italian city is buzzing with activity as it hosts the famous Carnival of Venice. This historic event dates back 700 years and is a two-week celebration leading up to the first day of Lent. Venice transforms into a wacky, weird and wonderful version of itself! People don beautiful masks and opulent costumes while street parades, theatrical performances and masked balls pop up across the city.

2. Switzerland
