February is a fantastic (and highly underrated!) time to visit Europe. The holiday season has finally wrapped up by the beginning of February and it is low season across most of Europe. This means fewer crowds at popular attractions and cheaper flights and accommodation options; making it a budget-friendly time to travel too!

1. Venice, Italy
While February may be quieter in general across Europe, this is not the case in Venice! During February, the Italian city is buzzing with activity as it hosts the famous Carnival of Venice. This historic event dates back 700 years and is a two-week celebration leading up to the first day of Lent. Venice transforms into a wacky, weird and wonderful version of itself! People don beautiful masks and opulent costumes while street parades, theatrical performances and masked balls pop up across the city.
The popular festival is set to take place from 15 February to 4 March in 2025 and attracts locals and visitors alike. Travel to Venice in February to take in the spectacle and see the historic floating city at its best!

2. Switzerland
Seeking snow and winter activities in February? Switzerland is the place to be! December, February and March are prime months in this part of Europe for winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Charming ski resort towns are busy as this is the best time of the year to hit the slopes. Enjoy a day outdoors and warm up with Swiss fondue next to a roaring fire in the evenings!

Paris, France, has long been a beloved destination for the dreamers, romantics and artists among us. The vibrant and historic capital of Czech Republic is popular with travellers from around the world, meaning it can become incredibly busy during the high season. Visit Prague in February to experience the city without massive crowds.
