An Eyeful at The Eiffel Tower

Couple looking at the Eiffel Tower - tour to france - expat explore

As one of the world’s most famous landmarks, it’s a familiar site to travellers across the world, an icon of France and a symbol of romance.

Built in 1889 as the entrance to the World’s Fair, The Eiffel Tower is now one of the most recognisable structures in the world. The tallest structure in all of Paris, it was in fact the tallest building in the world for a short time, until the Chrysler building in New York was built in 1930. It’s the first stop for many on a tour of Paris, and understandably so!

So given how familiar ‘The Iron Lady’ is, imagine my surprise when I arrived at La Trocadero (one of the most famous viewing points in Paris) to see this:

Single rainbow behind the Eiffel Tower

On cue, we tourists in the vicinity got our cameras out to capture what was obviously a really special moment as the rainbow got brighter and brighter.

Brighter rainbow captivating travellers

We couldn’t believe our luck! And as you can see above and below, a second one was soon visible:

Magnificent view of double rainbows

It even stopped traffic, with Parisians (known for their nonchalance) getting out of their cars and abandoning their scooters to get a shot of the magic. Before long, some people were re-enacting the old ‘Double Rainbow‘ meme from a few years back.

See the Eiffel Tower and experience the amazing city of Paris for yourself on a tour of Europe, or pop in on a Paris Weekend!
