Raymonde Poirier, a 58-year old retiree from Nova Scotia in Canada, recently joined Expat Explore’s Irish Explorer tour to celebrate her friend’s 60th. While she considers herself “an explorer at heart”, it was her first time embarking on a group tour – and she loved every minute!
Expat Explore tours are filled with travelers that range anywhere from the age of 10 and they come from all over the world. While a bus filled with unknown people may be a little daunting, it did not affect Raymonde’s trip in the slightest. “I had no problem travelling with a group of strangers. I love meeting new people and I had the opportunity to learn many things about different cultures. ”
Having tasted travel for the first time in 1984, Raymonde was not new to exploring. However, she was overwhelmed by how much a trip with Expat Explore suited her needs. “Expat Explore tours are definitely suitable for previous travelers. We had an excellent tour guide and wonderful bus driver. I’ve never visited Ireland prior to the tour, and I really feel that I absorbed an awful lot in such a little time. Map were distributed to us on a daily basis and then we’d go out exploring!”
Did these friends ever feel that they were unable to keep up? Quite the contrary, “the gals were always on the move and the tour was just the right pace! It seems that a group tour like this is for people of all ages. I will be 59 in August and Yvette will be 56 in September. Ella is in her late 40s.”
Why Expat Explore and coach travel? “Us 4 friends decided on Expat Explore as our tour operator as we found the prices very reasonable!” On top of the affordable prices, the tour allowed the friends to fully explore Ireland. “If we had not chosen an organized tour, we wouldn’t have had the chance to see so much in so little time!”
Raymonde fell in love with Ireland – its culture, food and the sights. “The one night I started step dancing for a few minutes on a sidewalk, in downtown Dublin. I could not contain myself! I just felt like step dancing. I will remember this trip forever!”
