Woman: Inspiring, strong, traveller

women on holiday - expat explore travel

Happy International Women’s Day to one and all! In the spirit of celebrating women, we’ve listed our favourite reasons why women should make travel a priority.

It’s a surefire road to happiness

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it.” Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love)

A purpose-driven life means something different to each person. But we believe travel is a surefire way to get there! It’s vital to take the opportunity to go beyond the confines of our comfort zone, to experience the world from a different angle. This shift of perspective provides ample opportunity to view our own lives with fresh eyes. Suddenly, you will have a new appreciation for all the wondrous people, things and places you have come to think of as ordinary. From this place of gratitude grows a deep-seated happiness that permeates all we think and do. Ultimately, you’ll have a new vigour for living life to its fullest and achieving new and exciting goals.

It opens the door to an international female club

When you travel, you meet other strong, interesting and fun women! You get the chance to learn how they live, love and fulfill their dreams. The day-to-day lives, challenges and attitudes of women differ from one country to the next. They may be from  Estonia, Italy, France, Greece or Russia. Crossing borders opens you up to the different ways people travel, eat, make a living and how we spend time with our loved ones. There are few things as inspiring as seeing fierce females from the world over form a band of lifelong friendships on tour. It’s a sisterhood that provides support, love, care and understanding!

It boosts your confidence

Travel, whether you do so in a group, with a partner, your children or even on your own, is a confidence booster of note. You’ll learn how to haggle in a foreign language. Or to stand your ground on public transport and negotiate brand new cities. While you’re there, be sure to challenge yourself to try unpronounceable dishes! In short, make your way in an unfamiliar culture a million miles from home. It takes guts and develops grit – the kind that will stand you in good stead when you head back home, or out on your next adventure.

Dust off your passport, give in to wanderlust and celebrate your women-ness this year by treating yourself to a solo travel mission. You will meet extraordinary people on the road and learn more about yourself than you can even imagine. Take our word for it!
